Appliqué Advent Calendar
Create a family heirloom that will delight every Christmas and build memories throughout generations

This is a 2 day workshop. The appliqué wall hanging that you will be making measures 46" x 34" and the design is Jo Colwill's, Cowslip Workshops, Launceston. Jo has kindly given permission for us to share the design and teach the making of this fabulous piece.

Details
You will have basic sewing skills and may have experience of appliqué or patchwork and quilting.
This is an intricate and interactive Advent Calender wall hanging that will bring pleasure to the whole family, with lots to explore and charms to find behind each door.
You will not only produce something that is truly beautiful, you will also learn a number of techniques e.g. needle turn applique that you will be able to apply to other projects.
It won't be possible to finish the wall hanging within the 2 day workshop, and so we will be running monthly drop-in sessions throughout the year to help as you continue to work on the piece. You can come to some, or all of the sessions, and if you're not local you can join by Zoom. Alison will be available to advise on next steps and to help maintain momentum so that you see the wall hanging through to completion in time for next Christmas!

Monthly drop-ins will be at the end of each month, starting in January 2024. They will will be from 10am-4pm and you can come for as much of the day as you wish. The cost of the drop-in will be £20/session which includes tea and coffee and input from Alison as required.

I started my first patchwork in 1973, when this age-old craft was increasing in popularity. Since then I have designed and produced innumerable pieces and continue to sew on a daily basis. I have City & Guilds in Patchwork & Quilting and Adult Teaching qualifications and have been teaching for over 12 years at both beginner and more advanced levels. I am delighted to be leading this workshop at Tig's Barn and grateful to Jo Colwill for her permission to teach her wonderful advent calendar wall hanging. I hope to see you at the workshop and look forward to working with you. There are so many different areas of this wonderful craft to learn about and pieces to create. This wall hanging is my all time favourite
